Mitel User Group Hosts First-Ever North America Chapter Event in Canada

Toronto, Ontario | June 26, 2025 — The Mitel User Group (MUG) marked a milestone with its first-ever North America Chapter Event held in Canada, welcoming Mitel users from across the region to a full day of insights, networking, and hands-on demonstrations in Toronto. The event welcomed Mitel customers and partners from across Canada for a day of networking, learning, and product insight.

Featuring Al Hurren, Mitel’s Executive Vice President of Engineering & Operations, the event offered attendees an in-depth look into the evolving unified communications (UC) landscape. Hurren’s keynote addressed the rapid shifts in AI, hybrid cloud, mobility and secure communications, reinforcing Mitel’s commitment to innovation and adaptability in a dynamic market.

The agenda featured a rich lineup of sessions and speakers, including Simon Smith, Mitel’s Director of Sales Engineering, Canada; Jill Kryzanowski and Mujib Shah, Sales Engineers; and partners from Martello and Talkative. Sessions ranged from technical deep-dives on Mitel’s product portfolio to real-time demos of integrations with tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and MiCollab. A Lunch & Learn segment featuring consultant Chris Thalassinos and Mitel’s Dave Clardy explored how businesses can future-proof their UC strategy in today’s complex digital environment.

For MUG Board Member, Judy Abbott, who kicked off the day with a warm MUG welcome, the event signified a pivotal moment in expanding MUG’s reach across North America: “Gathering Mitel users across Canada is more than just a milestone — it’s a testament to the growing innovation and passion within the MUG community,” said Abbott. “We’ve always believed in the power of peer-to-peer learning, and this event proved just how impactful that can be when you bring the right people into the room.”

The day concluded with an open technical forum and a networking reception, where attendees shared takeaways and forged new connections across industries.

As the first of its kind in Canada, the Toronto event underscored MUG’s mission to foster a global community of empowered Mitel users, delivering education, connection, and advocacy.
